In nineteen heartwarming stories, nationally recognized Pediatrician Dr.
Olson Huff MD shows how children tell us of love, joy, pain, death,
hope, friendship and the discovery of new things. He provides a "view through a window" in which children are seen as unpolished and unspoiled persons who excite response and encourage participation.
Written in a clear, easy-to-read style, these vignettes portray children as vibrant, dynamic persons. Chapter 5 illustrates the courage of terminally ill Flora, a nine-year-old who gave comfort to other children in hospital by her cheerful presence. Most interested in the happenings of others, she paid little attention to her own plight. Chapter 7 tells the story of April, a baby with spina bifida who permanently affected everyone who knew her, even though she never walked and spoke few words. Chaper 18 explores a boy's relationship with his dog, teacher and stepsister and with a newly found friend. This child, labeled as having "behavioural problems" develops into a fine class leader. Dr. Huff invites you to share in each child's vulnerability and pride, fear and hope, simplicity and complexity. He teaches that childhood is mare than a time for growing up and much more than a prelude to youth and adulthood. ![]() Parent ReviewsThese are masterful tales of that complex interaction involving pediatrician, children, and caregivers. Beautifully and honestly written caring dominates every page. Dr. Huff has done a wonderful job describing some of the joys and challenges of a pediatric career. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants an uplifting experience.

Dr. Huff has written a beautiful book about just how influential and powerful babies and children really are simply by being themselves--our children stimulate us to become their parents! The pictures he paints move me and his gentle genius dances all around me as I rush through the pages. This is the perfect beginning for a TV series at a time in our culture when so many young families struggle.
